CHATEAU AUSONE
Château Ausone produces one of the most sought-after wines in Bordeaux. Ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it sits, along with Château Cheval Blanc, at the top of the classification of Saint-Émilion. It is also the smallest of Bordeaux' famous 'big eight' wines.
Its vineyards are perched on the limestone slopes that surround the ancient walled town and are planted in 50% Cabernet Franc, 50% Merlot. At around 2,000 cases, production at Ausone is, it can be said, tiny. Named after the 4th Century poet Ausonius, this is a property with medieval historical significance and a glowing reputation for wines with outstanding longevity and poise. One of the world's greatest wines.
